Digital Dreams Festival

To continue on with my posts about summer music shows, the countdown is on for Digital Dreams Festival! For two epic days, June 29th and 30th, a number of renowned DJ's and artists will be performing at the Molson Canadian Ampthitheatre. It is a massive outdoor event with 3 main stages and over 40,000 tickets sold to date. No matter what type of music you are into in the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) world, there will be something for you.

Not only do I want to inform all of you about amazing shows and artists, but I think it's of value to include little survival tips when going to these types of events. First and foremost, stay hydrated! Hoping that good weather comes through, it is important to drink plenty of water because you'll be dancing up a storm and exposed to the heat and sun. Secondly, choose your shoes wisely. Closed - toed shoes are best, so that your toes aren't constantly stepped on. Because this is a beach event, heels are strongly dis-advised. My last little tip for a festival - type show is wear a fanny - pack! This keeps your hands free, and your belongings safe. Key items for you ladies out there that I suggest are, a mini tissue pack, extra bobby pins, q-tips for makeup touch - ups, and hand sanitizer.

Here is the amazing line - up you can all look forward to, and a quick link if you are interested in purchasing tickets. What DJ are you excited to see?

Bud Light Sensation

For the first time in Canada, Bud Light Sensation debuted at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. On June 1st, Canadians came together dressed in all white attire and witnessed a world of sea life, giant jellyfish floating from the ceiling, acrobats, fire, and amazing music from world famous DJ's. Some of the featured DJ's included:

Mr. White
2000 and one
Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano
Fedde Le Grand
Eric Prydz
Otto Knows
MC Gee

The most important thing to remember when going to a show of this multitude is, always have a buddy system. It is so easy to get lost, and it also takes a lot of time to get from one place to another.

I attended this even with 3 other people and saw things I have never seen before. It was truly a pleasure to be a part of the first ever Sensation show in Canada and hopefully they saw that we are hungry for more ! Muse

Hello everyone !

Probably one of my all time favourite bands is Muse! Muse is an amazing 3 - person rock band from UK that first came together in 2004. Their style of music is very eclectic and consists of a blend of progressive rock, heavy metal, and space rock. I even noticed a bit of "dubstep" bass style during their show which was very modern and fun. As a gift I received tickets to attend this show in April, at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto. Wow, was I ever blown away. The ACC put on the most amazing light and pyrotechnic show I have ever witnessed. They played songs from almost all of their 6 albums and had so much energy, and eccentricity. Muse had an amazing stage layout, and had one of a kind instruments. A see-through grand piano with neon lights lit up as Matthew Bellamy played each chord/notes. Dominic Howard played the drums on a rotating stage while singing vocals, and the crowd who had floor access moshed the night away.

If you're interested in hearing some of their work, I've included one of my favourite songs from their album, The Resistance. Undisclosed Desires

Decadence

In March, I went out on a limb, and was lucky enough to grab tickets for Decadence! Taking the chance to drive to downtown Toronto, without tickets for a show, but with the intense hope of any trance/house lover was well worth it.

Decadence took place is the well known venue of Guvernment. The Guvernment is the largest nightclub in Toronto and is a prime location for DJ's to lay down their tracks. Guvernment features 8 rooms and includes a rooftop patio called Skybar that open seasonally.

The particular DJ that I was inclined to see was W&W who are from the Netherlands. They
have an edgy trance and tech vibe and played an amazing set. Literally, I felt like my life was made!

The set list :

Biography

Kumasta ka! My name is Mary Grace C., and I will be sharing my blog about Summer festivals and music shows. I am a music lover of all genres, and an avid show attendee. Since moving closer to Toronto, from my hometown of London Ontario, my love for diversity within artists and venues has grown.

Just to give you a little insight about myself, I am currently an accounting student at Sheridan College in Mississauga and will be entering my second year this coming September 2013. I come from a big filipino family and every single member from both my mother's side, and my father's side, is musically talented in some form or another. I started playing piano at the age of 6, moved on to guitar, alto saxophone, classical guitar and even played around with the trombone. Being filipino, one of our favourite activities during potlucks and parties is singing kareoke.

All of these experiences has led me to believe the exposure of music to be of great importance in everyday life. In my blog, I hope you will enjoy my posts about summer shows in Toronto. Toronto provides wonderful and exciting opportunities to enjoy music of all kinds for all different tastes.

Thank you for taking the time to read and I invite you to post comments or even suggestions about anything and all things music.
